    Director of Assessment

    12-month position - BCAS (Group III)
    Test Administration & State Accountability:
    • Coordinate all procedures related to the administration of local and state assessments including, but not limited to, the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), BPS internal benchmark and intervention assessments, and state outcome assessments (e.g., Smarter Balanced English language arts and mathematics, Next Generation Science, PSAT, and SAT).
    • Work cooperatively with Data Management Director, Information Technology Director, and site principals in planning and supervising the procedures for administering local and state assessments.
    • Coordinate the ordering and use of all local and state assessment materials.
    • Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff on requirements of the state assessment program.
    • Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff on requirements of the state accountability program (e.g., Next Generation Accountability Index)
    • Track and record metrics on the CT State Department of Education (CSDE) accountability plans (e.g.., Alliance District, Opportunity District) and conduct annual analysis of the effectiveness of the plan.
    • Disseminate information regarding current requirements of the state assessments program including test administration, security, and confidentiality.
    Data Analysis, Interpretation, & Presentation:
    • Assist school leadership teams in data analysis and goal setting.
    • Provide and present evaluative findings (including student achievement data) for the review of program effectiveness to multiple audiences including staff and Board of Education.
    • Conduct district needs assessments, school level assessments, and surveys.
    • Possess a basic understanding of technical characteristics of tests, especially types of scores (norm- referenced and criterion-referenced), validity, and reliability.
    • Clearly and effectively present assessment reports to a variety of audiences.
    • Be able to use, interpret, and explain basic statistics.
    • Advise on data sources to support curriculum, instruction, assessment, and curriculum adoptions.
    • In collaboration with the department directors and central office staff, provide training on authentic or performance-based assessment, program evaluation, test administration, data analysis and interpretation, and performance reporting.
    Department Organization & Personnel Management:
    • Demonstrate organizational and project management skills.
    • Have a working knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing evaluation, research, state accountability requirements, curriculum, and assessment.
    • Proficient technology skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and analytics software.
    • Expertise in the use of technology to extract reports from various sources.
    • Establish a short-term and long-term calendar to assess program needs, student performance, and program effectiveness and provide the necessary data for evaluation reports.
    • Model the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with parents, school personnel and agencies associated with the school district.
    • Technical writing skills.
    • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.
    • Ability to interpret and explain data to a variety of audiences.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Connecticut certification - Intermediate Administrator (092)
    • Minimum three years successful supervisory experience
    This is a Group III (12 month) position in accordance with the Agreement between the Bridgeport Board of Education and the Bridgeport Council of Administrators and Supervisors (BCAS).
